Testimonial:
This route connects the gate of the Danube Bend, the city of Dunakeszi and Veresegyház. In most places, it follows bicycle paths, forestry and agricultural roads. During the tour, we touch on the main sights of the region: the Bear Home and the lakes of Veresegyház.
Route:
We turn off the EuroVelo 6 route at the old beach of Dunakeszi. On the first kilometers of the route we can find smaller and larger shops in case there is another chocolate or energy bar missing from the bag. In most places in the inner area of the city, we take a bicycle path, then we quickly get to Fót, where we turn from the asphalt to the comfortably walkable, rammed, sandy road. In most places, the road is easy to ride, there is no need to overcome a large level rise. We're moving alongside forests and horse farms. Turning right after the sports airport, crossing the railway tracks, there is a paved road leading to the Bear Home. Boards help you navigate.
We're going backwards from the Bear Home. On the small streets of Veresegyház, we can reach the famous lakes of the city in a short time. Ivachi and the Old Lake offer a good opportunity for a relaxation or bathing. If the weather does not allow for outdoor bathing, the thermal bath of the city is open almost all year round.
The closure of the route is the Holy Spirit Church, which was renovated in 2013, and there are several restaurants nearby. Trains run from the railway station of Veresegyház to Vác and Budapest.
The downloadable route (GPX) is one-way, it is recommended to return to the Budapest-Dunakeszi bicycle route on the same route.
