Testimonial:

Törökbálint is a city with a population of about 14 000 in the Budapest agglomeration. Despite the proximity of the capital and the rank of the city, the settlement retained its idyllic, tranquil atmosphere.

Route:

From the railway station we go to Törökbálinti Lake, on the lakefront promenade there is a bicycle path. It is an excellent picnic spot from where you can observe the fishermen, with the barren Csíki mountains rising above the Budaörs in the background.

Passing through the residential area of the settlement, on the other side of the city you can find several attractions close to each other. We arrive at the beautifully renovated Catholic church of the Virgin Mary through a short but steep trench. Next to the 18th-century church you can relax in the church park, and then it is worth walking to the St. Francis Xavier chapel.

Today there is a lung hospital in the Majláth Castle, and it is worth to takeashort walk in its baroque garden. In the Village Museum you can see a local historical collection, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 13:00 and 16:00. Continuing our journey, we pass the chapel of Mary with a wooden tower, built in Baroque style, and then reach the privately owned Walla villa, whose impressive building can be viewed from the outside. We continue our journey in the family home zone of the Tükör Mountain (Mirror Mountain), then descending from there - admiring the panorama of the western part of Budapest - we arrive at the trail of the Budapest-Balaton bicycle path. From here we can continue our journey towards Budapest or Etyek.

The route is easy to walk along, mostly on a good quality asphalt pavement. Since we travel mostly in urban areas, we need to pay more attention at crossings and intersections. There are steeper stretches in parts of the easy access route, where you can change to a low gear or shortly push the bike over.

This route does not affect the Anna Mountain detour, which requires more advanced cycling skills, and is recommended as a separate route for visitors.
